Lit Analysis #8 essay choice

How do the generations differ in their ideas about love and family? how does each difference manifest itself in the way each generation deals with issues such as marriage, divorce, and child rearing?

    Marriage is a big deal now, shows that you are making a commitment to spend the rest of your life with the person you love. In the book the Joy Luck Club there is a lot of marriages. Not only that, but there are tons of different opinions about the topic of marriage. The different generations have their own thoughts about it. There is really no right or wrong answer about it.
    Take Lena's vase for example, she had put the vase in a dangerous area. She didn't do anything to protect the vase. Supposedly her husband Harold had built the table. unstable and wobbly. Basically saying that he didn't put enough love into his marriage so when Lena realizes this she does nothing. Ying-ying "accidentally" makes the vase fall and shatter on the floor. She tells Lena she should something instead of just standing there and let it passively happen. Not to be a standby.
    Lindo Jong is married her and her husband light a red wick candle at each end. If the candle were to blow out prematurely it would be bad. Lindo didnt want to get married so she blew it out during the night. One of the servants had relit. Later they all found out that the candle had "died" So Lindo gets herself out of the marriage. Lindo is creating her own fate by blowing out the candle. Showing that she is in control of it she had a choice. The candle is showing that it is a tradition, but know it is showing power.
    In the end marriage is marriage you get to control what happens so ultimately you can do whatever you want. Lindo had took matter in her own hands. She did that by using the the tradition of the candle to get out of her marriage. Lena on the other hand was basically a door mat. She let people walk all over her. She could've changed the marriage. She could've done anything, but no she just stood there and let her marriage crumble. In marriage the choice is all yours. There is no one that could guide you through it. It it just you and your partner. No one else.

3. The elevated tone just makies the passagae seem for sophisticated. While paraphrasing it just made it easier to understand not that complicated.

Lit analysis #2

Of Mice and Men 

By: John Steinbeck

For the literature analysis, I had read of Mice and Men. The main characters were George and Lennie. Lennie was a buff guy that really didn't know his own strength. While George was very smart and very aware of his surroundings. Lennie wasn't the smarted person. George takes care of Lennie while they look for a job and find work at a farm. Lennie is a clutz. He always gets into trouble be he kills the farmers wife and in the end George has to kill Lennie.

The main theme was that to be careful of your actions. Lennie doesn't know what is wrong and what is right. He hurts things because of his abnormal strength. George has to basically be a baby sitter for Lennie since he doesn't know anymore. Throughout the book George has to constantly be watching over Lennie because without George he would be lost.

The protagonist, George would be a dynamic and round character. Reason for Dynamic is because he shows all of the emotion. George is a good person who had to make tough decisions. Lennies' very important because he is the one cause all of the problems that's George has to fix.

Forgiveness is significant. George always ends up forgiving Lennie. Reason for this because he understands Lennie doesn't do it on purpose. George is a very understanding person and cares very much about Lennie.

Reason I chose this book was because I read it in junior high. I really loved the book. I felt that I remembered parts of it and I loved it. Once I started reading I just lost myself in the book. I had finished it in one day. That's how good it was for me.

I think Lennie would be the closest character to me. Reason for that is because I'm really lost in school. I don't know what I am doing. It's not that I am strong or anything like that I am just very curious about the world.

Thing I will remember the most about the book would be the ending. Spoiler alert. When George is chasing after Lennie. George grabs the gun and status telling Lennie about what they are going to do with their farm. It gets rally emotional. Once he is done talking George shoots Lennie in the head. It had to be done. That is what I will never forget. Of Mice and Men is really a truly amazing book

Antigone Quick-Write

If that situation had ever happened to me and he ended up being the bad one. I would do anything to fix all loose ends. Searching up everything and any type of evidence to prove my brothers innocence. It's not fair how my brother I dislike is being the hero. There isn't a thing I wouldn't do to save him. Family isn't left behind. I would convince my is get no matter how long it took to speak up about the truth/help. She, helping me would make this a lot easier for finding evidence, I know for a fact that my sweet brother would never do such a thing. Why he wouldn't hurt a fly let alone his brother even though he is a horrible person. We don't actually do anything that far, I would personally investigate everyone that was on the island that when we met. I would talk to the manager because he seemed kind of off when me and my family had gotten to the island. He must know something we don't know. After all that and I still don't know what happened I am going to bury my brother. Even though I am going to get in trouble I don't care. He is my brother. I will do anything for him. I know in my hear that he is innocent.

The host is introducing Jonathan Safran because some people might not know him. They begin to talk about his new book Eating Animals. Its not saying that you should become a vegetarian, but just to become more aware of farming. That farms have changed from 50 years ago. It is not natural anymore. The labels don't mean anything anymore.
F. Moment 1:
A moment that had caught my attention was when the host had pulled out the bacon. It had seemed to me that he was making fun of Jonathan Safran. Especially when he had taken a bite saying "Oh you can really taste the suffer." I thought that was kind of weird and messed up. He is trying to make you aware about what you are eating. Then you eat bacon in front of his face.
Moment 2:
When the host had used bacon as a book mark. I thought that was a really d**k move. Straight out. I know your supposed to be funny and all, but really thats really rude to do. Ya I get he may know the Safran, but does he know him that much.
Moment 3:
This really isnt a specific moment but basically it is the whole interview. I think that the host is being awfully rude to Safran. The way that he is talking to him like he is talking mess about him. That is what I think because he is saying mean stuff that he may think is funny for him, but is really rude and I dont like that

This presentation can relate to me for reasons because I am quote on quote "friends" with people that are sometimes really rude. They may think it is funny what they are talking about, but it's not. Also the eating animals, it has really opened up my eyes. I have a new perspective about eating meat. Im still going to be eating meat, but a will eat less then I did before.

LITERATURE ANALYSIS #1 Gulliver's Travels

1. This book has been split up into four parts. In the first part what he does is introduce his past how he was a surgeon now a voyager sailing the seven seas. He decribes while hes sailing there is a storm and he swims to this island called Lilliput. He falls asleep, when he wakes up he finds himself tied up. He also finds out that the people there are no taller then six inches. They take Gulliver to their emperor he gives him the basics for survival and such. He helps out the islanders with defeating their neighbors the Blefuscudians. He upsets the emperor which he is sentenced to be blinded. He escapes on a boat and sails back to England. So this is what the book is about just telling his adventures. Thats what his other parts are about. 

2. Abuse of power is the theme, reason for this is they are abusing the "Giant" Gulliver because of his size and his gullibleness. Next is the Brobdingnagians the farmer was willing to make Gulliver farm to his death.

3.I honestly didn't want to choose this boook, I had actually tried to change it because i thought this would be boring. The reason i kept reading was because I had to. This was a project and it's worth a lot. I choose it because I had seen some previews about it and thought it was cool.

4.Obviously this book isn't real, its just impossible. I didnt really connect to anyone because how could I they are so different, maybe i could connect how Gulliver was super short to the people. Like I am small metaphoricallly, im not seen as popular.

5. The author's tone is ironic, reason for this is that he escapes the Lilliput island, but then goes back sailing. You would think that he would think it over at least for five minutes or something. Then after another adventure he goes back again and again, its really ironic.

6. The theme because it shows in the story a lot that people abuse power, dont give an inch or they'll take a mile. Narrator is Gulliver he's telling his story. Conflict is that Gulliver is always getting stuck in something like with the the storm destroying his ship and him getting stuck in Lilliput.Antagonist is Gulliver this is all about him. Setting is  18th century England

CHARACTERIZATION 

1. Example of direct characterization is how in the very beginning he his saying to not to judge him for his mistakes. Indirect characterization example is when the yahoos are talking bout him when he first arrives at the island. They are not saying it to his face, but they are describing him.

2. The authors syntax doesnt change because Gulliver doesnt really change his tone throughout the entire book.

3. The protagonist, Gulliver is static and flat, reason for that is because after all his adventures he doesnt really change besides the actual adventure.

4. The author did good describing the character, but i dont think I like met the character. For example with the Heroes of Olympus series by Rick Riordan i felt i know them. I like that author much better

ENDURING MEMORYThe thing i could probably never forget it from the book is when he cant even be with his family. He thinks that they are not humans. What is up with that. That is just sick and weird. Also that he is talking to the horses when he his home. That is freaky. I dont think I could ever forget that part in the book.

Do you think technology (such as cell phones and portable music players) brings people closer together? If three people are together but two are listening to headphones and the third is on the phone, how is this different than being alone? Explain your answer.
        Technology, lets take time to talk about it. You could use it to talk to your best friend all night long. So yes I think it does bring people closer. If the three people are together, two are listening  to music and the third is on their phone it is different then being alone. The reason for this is because you are together and there is a vibe in the room. It is really hard to explain but it is.

What is the beginning of the universe for most major cultures?: A chaotic formless mass that a god or pair of gods separate. The gods multiply so that each can have his/her certain role in the universe scheme and creator god brings life to earth.

Why do ordinary people identify with heroes?: They have imperfections and to like them for everyone has similar psychological needs and conflicts.

Honors English 2

BOR, is it really true?

There has been research about me, how I am a only child, The crazy thing about all of the research is that most of it is true. Yah seems a bit far-fetched, research that “knows” me, kind of awkward. The research is called Birth Order Research (BOR).

One of the traits listed is that I have difficult time relating to peers. I really do have a rough time connecting to peers, like I am disconnected from them. If that makes any sense, I don’t feel like I belong. I do have friends, but not a whole lot of them. It is partially my fault because I am already thinking oh they are too cool to be a friend. I don’t know why I do it. I can’t help myself. I probably have two to three good friends.

Another trait that is listed is procrastination. I know I procrastinate, but I can’t help it. I try over and over again to stop doing it but I can’t help myself.  I really do need help with it. Like for the A.P. world history assignment over summer, I procrastinated on it so bad. I didn’t know what to do. I finished it just in time. I thought I was going to mess it all up.

While I do get along with some people, I talk to younger or older people. I don’t talk to a lot of people in my grade. That seems strange, but it’s true. I don’t get why I do that I just like talking to people that are not my grade. I think that’s pretty strange to me. I can’t believe that BOR has said all this about being an only child.       

After all of the things they listed in the BOR, almost everything is true about me. That really freaked me out when I noticed it. I agree with everything they said about me. This has changed my view because if my traits were all true, then that means that probably all the other children first, middle and oldest are all true. Now that’s really creepy.

Reflections on Week 1

Thing I am most excited about this class is that the way we do our homework. Over a blog, that is really amazing! I am super pumped about this because I like using my Laptop and now I get to use it for homework is a big plus. The thing I look forward to learning is how to use the Internet as an educational source. Not just a thing where you waste half your day on. Then get 2 hours of sleep and repeat the whole cycle. If I could be able to use the Internet just for educational purposes and not hours of watching streamers and YouTube. That would make me like the smartest person alive(just kidding lulz). It would make my life a lot easier by not getting distracted on the Internet.

Equanimity can be helpful when you are very stressful.

Magnanimous is a character I think I have because I do share my food.
